ESSAY

This blog that has now become Apanda's Addiction has gone thought some radical changes. Before I did not have a true theme to this blog, there was any true substance but just general information. I think that this blog has now developed into something that has finally created a true topic that has a good foreground. The theme is now about the entertainment industry and how we (an audience) interpret of why do we want to be entertained? My Internet personality (Apanda) generally talks about main stream media. For my final project I decided to redo my Photoshop project since I did not have a theme to stick to before. Since they were my weakest pieces my new Photoshop images can now relate towards the final theme more appropriately.

The old Images that I have submitted were random, and more focused towards movies. In comparison my Photoshop images in one way answers the question; why do we want to be entertained? My answer to this was that it allows people to escape to another world form reality. So I used myself (the Internet personality) to interpret items that you interact with to access the entertainment. My online character used the item as a portal way to a new reality. Thus I used examples of things that I have read or was entertained by; The game Prince of Persia, the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, book Luxe series, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles a manga by CLAMP, Movie Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock. Each had an item of taping into that reality; game controller, book, screen light, comic, MP3 player etc. Each photo in a way allowed my online character to escape to another world with in the entertainment industry. I think it really relates to more of why we watch and become enlighten by entertainment. The creativity of these artists has shown the good and bad of the entertainment of the industry.

I think that Lee Manovich touches one some of the topics of the entertainment industry that would be in concerns to my theme. The comparison of what is real within the cinema and what is digitally enhanced.

Rather than using the lens to focus the image of actual
reality on film and then digitizing the film image (or
directly using an array of electronic sensors) we can try to
construct three-dimensional reality inside a computer and
then take a picture of this reality using a virtual camera also inside a computer
This statement concludes the paradox of digital photography that we are making things more realistic from using something that does not truly exist but also id reflected from the reality of the world. In a way digital photography reflects reality into a non existing world.

"Jurassic Park" blends the future
super-vision of computer graphics with the familiar vision of
film image. In "Jurassic Park," the computer image bends down
before the film image, its perfection is undermined by every
possible means and is also masked by the film's content.

An example of entertainment that Manovich explores the validity of the digital film effects but has also has followed with in the paradox of digital photography. Just like how we look at the movie today Avatar. We find that they create this world of reality but is actually would that does not exist within human mankind and reflect human characteristics.

In conclusion I feel that I have some good points about the entertainment industry but due to the fact that I found my theme so late in the span of the semester. Thus I have not fully touched everything about the entertainment industry but it became a great learning experience on how to approach a blog with a theme. All my works within this blog have just scratch the surface of why do we want to be entertained.

Perfomance Art Information

Well My concept began from watching other artist which game me a great idea.
Since My blog tends to be about entertainment, the things we read, watch, hear. I thought about how we are consumers because we like to watch that things that are appealing to us as an audience. So the concept of this performance art was to create a VISION using the body. Allowing my body to be used and changed into different looks and poses that most people can take a reference to.

Aftermath
Personally I found it very hard maintaining a pose and sometimes I did fall. I felt like a projection of pop culture. Some people would take poses from TV shows, childhood songs, dance poses, copying a lot of what they usually see.
It astounds me of how many references you could relate to with just a few poses.
I did this performance for less than a half hour. I manipulated the video to be fast forward and remove the sounds so they can focus what the body was projecting.
Overall this was a very fun project to do.

Video Project

-Change-

I felt that my online persona named Apanda needed to be more pronounced so a made a video introughcing this silly character that is comical and over dramatic.
I made the conclusion that all the thinks I wrote so far in this blog were about the things that I was entrtained by. Random but they all hd to do with think that are ment to be watched, read, and entertaining.

5 attemps of photoshop

Since I established a new theme about movies and entertainment I made my images related to me as an artist and creating images that related to movies.
Just to play around with movie trailers and all other kinds of fun stuff.

This one is a poster for a fake movie... The theme mystery horror theme.

This one was something fun. Well I wanted to make a good camera angle trick were the audience looked as if they needed the glasses.

This is me, I wanted to look cartooned and sleepy because I always sleep. Its part of my character.

This is me if I ever became character in a fantasy novel and became a new creature. I decided to become a water nymph!

This is another movie poster I made up :P Its based on a romance manga I read, I wish it would become a movie so this was out of pure fandom...

Artist Inspration

Spotlight :)
1. Kaori Yuki

(由貴 香織里, Yuki Kaori, born December 18 in Tokyo) is a female Japanese manga artist best known for her gothic comics such as Earl Cain, its sequel Godchild, and Angel Sanctuary. Yuki debuted in 1987 with Natsufuku no Erii (夏服のエリー) which ran in the manga anthology Bessatsu Hana to Yume published by Hakusensha.[1] Her work is typically serialized in one of Hakusensha's two shōjo manga anthologies, Bessatsu Hana to Yume and Hana to Yume.

(Information from Wikipedia)

In terms of her manga style it is very gothic but beautifully detailed. A particular image that I wanted to present is from the manga called Angel Sanctuary. This is an image of the main character named Setsuna. What I like about the work that she takes a lot of a attention to detail, she cares about what the character is wearing. The manga style is shoujo and appeals usually to girl-based audience that's is why some of her character appear ideal or feminine. Most of her mangas consist of romance, horror, fantasy, gothic, supernatural themes. The story about Angel Scantuary is about Two special angels named Rosil and Alexiel. Alexiel felt that the world of heaven was corrupted and started a heavenly war against God. God resneted her for being a woman and punished her. Alexiel's body was trapped ina crystal chaber why her soul was sent to earth where all her reincarnations with die all tragic deaths. The latest reincarnation was the main character named Setsuna a violent teenager who has a terrible secret: He is in love with his sister, a forbidden realtionship.

Oi.

I feel so Asian.

iiits a New year... Bam..2010?!?

I can not belive it has been 10 years since the year 2000.
It still fathoms me.
Yes, January the begining of the new year.
Got new goals not only as an artist but as a person who want to change for the better. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I am a bad person but I feel the need to be different and find myself. Getting to know me. Well a first I felt kinda awkward about this blog. Exposing your life on an interactive page. Anyone could look at it. It made me feel kinda naked... bare, the kinda feeling that makes you feel awkard towards others. I dont usually allow people to know me through foreign applications. Im the kidna person who likes to get to know people in the real world. In reality I'm a social person. I make alot of friends easily. I think now that I shouldn't turn away in ignorance of this blog and try to give it a go. It is also the reason why I took this course.

Testing Testing 1 2 3 ... checkcheck Project One

I have a list of things to post.
  1. Work on Blog
  2. Watch http://rhizome.org/video/
    -> Net Aesthetics
    or http://vimeo.com2183401
  3. Find a found piece of media (video or image) (at least two links)
  4. Look at given artist websites for inspration of artist statement

Song for the DAY:)

I've been a Tokio Hotel fan. I found them interesting becuase of their history. They used to be a band named Devlish when they were only in their preteen years which was astounding to me since they were so young and so... YOUNG! Already had songs on top charts in Germany and they are popular in demand. I felt inspired by them since they were so young and have become interantional band with songs in English and German. They've come a long way. I was also surprised that there are twin brothers in this band. Bill & Tom Kaulitz :o At first I thought they appeared nothing a ike with such different taste of styles on their outter appearances.
Why are the men so pretty these days?
Man. They sure do look different... Outfit wise. -CONFESSION- used to think that Bill was pretty hot<3

What I feel about the video?
I love the video, the whole look fo their new CD Humanoid has a whole futuristic parody. It suits the song. The robots that are acting like humans trying to fall in love unfortunatly the girl robot doesn't give the male robot a chance. Aww. o: I liked the graphics they weren't bad at all. I would actually like to make a music video just for fun it doesn't have to be a song I created but like a potentional music video for the artist. It would be pretty interesting... but for now I would like to learn more about vidoe editing before I can accomplish this.
Anways Back to the video.
Boys and their toys. The cars for each person was a bit over the top but I guess it was interesting way to show off? or Advertise the cars? hmmm.
I also founds it cool that in the shot of Bill in the car he had a hand ring with the word "HUMANOID" lol >.>
And I couldnt stop looking at Bill.... -drool-
but I really think it was just his outfit... I loved his whole gettup. So over the top but thats his look. He grabs alot of attention becuase of it.

I'm late late for a VERY Important Date.

Sorry for the lateness. I'm having a hard time with the settings of Blogger; I was trying to find a way to change the template settings I've found one... But I'm still learning how to use it so tempoarily the settings of this site will be in default form.

I'll try my best to make as many of the necessary posts for this blog.

I look tired, but i still have so much to write about!

In honest feelings about this site... I'm certainly not used to Blogger... I can definatly use Xanga... MySpace and any other sites but I've decided to use blogger to expand on my abilities with other applications. In any case it just the kinda of project that alow me to expland new horizons... ahem, so to speak...

As for the lateness, I feel that this week went through a rush i had no idea of things went by so quickly. Ah, That's life I guess. I recently downloaded a whole bunch of episodes of this old TV series I used to obsess about ; Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hilarious I know but man, watching some of this stuff brings back the memories. Nostalgic. Plus It's FUN when you have HDMI cables... and use your tv as an external desktop! wah >_>
I really did love this show :P

It really is quite distracting when you can watch you downloaded episode on a nice big tv while writing on this blog at the same time... helps the neck strain.
